Marysville High School Members of FFA


Ben & Mary Coleman Scholarship

This renewable scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Fairbanks, Marysville, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, North Union, Tolles Technical & Career Center, and Tri-Rivers Career Center who intend to pursue agricultural studies at a post secondary institution.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. One essay. One letter of recommendation. Must intend to pursue agriculture-related studies and to pursue an ag-related career. Students attending affiliated schools (Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Tolles Career & Technical Center, and Tri-Rivers Career Center) are also eligible.
In 2025, three $2,000 scholarships were awarded.
Renewable for up to 3 additional years if enrollment and grade requirements are met.

Walter & Doris Herd Memorial Agricultural Scholarship

Scholarships for graduating Marysville students (includes Ohio Hi-Point students) with demonstrated interest in agriculture.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. Two essays. One letter of recommendation. Interview in late January / early February. Must be a member of the Marysville FFA.
In 2025, one $2,000 scholarship (renewable for four years) was awarded.
Typically, two scholarships are awarded. One is non-renewable; one is renewable for up to four years.

Jason K. Mathewson Memorial Scholarship

Initiated by the Marysville F.F.A. Alumni, Jason’s family, and friends, this scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating MHS student with at least 3 years membership in the F.F.A.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. Two essays. Two letters of recommendation, including one from the MHS AG Department. Interview in late January / early February. Must be a member of the Marysville FFA.
In 2025, one $2,000 scholarship was awarded.

Northwest Neighborhood Alliance Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2022 by David and Jean Thornton and David’s sister Twyla (Jim) Elliott. The fund was started with monies left over from the Northwest Neighborhood Alliance that fought the commercial egg farms coming to Union County in the early 2000s. It is awarded to a graduating North Union student with an interest in conservation and environmental science, and demonstrated community involvement.
REQUIREMENTS:  One essay. Two letters of recommendation. Minimum 3.2 GPA.
In 2025, two $2,000 scholarships were awarded.

Lucy Ellen Haywood Pastoral and Missionary Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 2020 in memory of Lucy Ellen Haywood. Lucy's faith was of the highest priority in her life and her guiding light. She spent many decades teaching and modeling her Christian faith. As such, via her last will and testament, she included provision to lend financial support to those men and women who choose to pursue the field of ministry.
REQUIREMENTS:  One letter of recommendation. Must intend to pursue religious studies. Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited theological seminary or similar institution. Applicants must be Union County residents.
In 2025, one $2,000 scholarship was awarded.

The Marilyn Shearer Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Marilyn Shearer, a member of the Union County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, whose generous contribution helped underwrite this scholarship. It recognizes the values the DAR espouses: good citizenship and service to the community.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. One essay (800-1000 words) on a set topic. You must be a Union County resident. You must be a graduating female senior of North Union, Marysville, or Fairbanks High Schools OR a female descendant of a member of the Hannah Emerson Dustin Chapter DAR – Union County (members from 2019 or prior). You must intend to major in history, journalism, political science or similar fields; see application for complete list.
In 2025, two $2,000 scholarships were awarded.

The Summer Theater Workshop Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2014 by the medical staff of Memorial to support post-secondary education in a medical-related or science discipline for graduating seniors who reside in Union County.
REQUIREMENTS:  Personal statement. Two letters of recommendation. Letter of acceptance from college. Must be a resident of Union County. Must intend to pursue post-secondary education in medical or health/science related field. Preference given to Hospital staff-related candidates or Hospital volunteers. MUST BE A RESIDENT OF UNION COUNTY.
In 2025, six $1,000 scholarships (renewable for up to 3 additional years) were awarded.
Renewable for 3 additional years if enrollment and grade requirements are met.

This scholarship was started in 2002 and is underwritten by stock that was generously donated by Sargent Chamberlain, a longtime Marysville resident. The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior of Fairbanks High School.
REQUIREMENTS:  Personal statement (500 words or less). Two letters of recommendation. Family financial information. Preference given to Kiwanis-related or Key Club member.
One $1,000 scholarship was awarded in 2025.

The David Fisher Scholarship

This scholarship was created by the Fairbanks High School Class of 1965 in loving memory of Vietnam Veteran David Fisher (K.I.A.). The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Fairbanks High School student. Because Spec 5 David Fisher served as a medic in the army, preference will be given to applicants planning to pursue a course of study in Emergency Medicine (ex: paramedic, nurse's aide, nursing), or Public Safety Service (ex: EMT, Firefighter, Police), or mechanical career opportunities. Consideration will be given to other fields of study based on the pool of applicants.
REQUIREMENTS:  One short essay. One letter of recommendation. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference to those pursuing career in emergency services or paramedicine.
The intent is to award one $2,500 scholarship and one $2,000 scholarship in 2026.

The Jim Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship


APPLICATIONS FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP ARE NOT YET BEING ACCEPTED.
The Jim Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship honors the memory and legacy of Jim Fitzgerald, who lived a life exemplified by kindness, selflessness, and a lasting commitment to improving the lives of those around him. In the spirit of Jim, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Fairbanks, Marysville, or North Union High School student who demonstrates personal excellence, serves as an example of leadership, character, and service, and shows a commitment to using their talents and abilities to make a difference in others’ lives.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. Two short personal statements. Two letters of recommendation. Emphasis on involvement in and service to the community.
One $5,000 scholarship was awarded in 2025.

BG7 - Blake Gorton Memorial Scholarship

Darla Hall-Barrett Memorial Scholarship for the Arts

Mrs. Hall-Barrett was passionate about the arts, and brought the arts to students through an artist in residency program and through her puppetry. Her generous donation to Fairbanks allows for this scholarship in her honor.

The Tom & Pat Nicol Legacy Scholarship was established to honor the enduring commitment of Tom (Fairbanks FFA Alumnus, Class of 1975) and Pat Nicol to the youth of Union County, particularly those involved in agriculture and the Fairbanks FFA Chapter.
REQUIREMENTS:  At least two years of active participation in the Fairbanks FFA chapter. High school transcript. Three short essays. One letter of recommendation. Enrolled, or in the process of enrolling, in postsecondary training (certificate program, two- or four-year program or trade school) with a major focus on agriculture or the trades.
This scholarship is new for 2026. The intent is to award one $1,000 scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded in honor of Anne Gorman, former Jonathan Alder High School Choral Director. The scholarship award may be applied to any accredited two or four year college, university, or technical school.

In the spirit of Jim, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Fairbanks, Marysville, or North Union High School student who demonstrates personal excellence, serves as an example of leadership, character, and service, and shows a commitment to using their talents and abilities to make a difference in others’ lives.

The Jim Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship


APPLICATIONS FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP ARE NOT YET BEING ACCEPTED.
The Jim Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship honors the memory and legacy of Jim Fitzgerald, who lived a life exemplified by kindness, selflessness, and a lasting commitment to improving the lives of those around him. In the spirit of Jim, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Fairbanks, Marysville, or North Union High School student who demonstrates personal excellence, serves as an example of leadership, character, and service, and shows a commitment to using their talents and abilities to make a difference in others’ lives.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. Two short personal statements. Two letters of recommendation. Emphasis on involvement in and service to the community.
One $5,000 scholarship was awarded in 2025.

Robert M. Fox Scholarship

This Scholarship was funded by Ruby Fox in memory of Robert. Robert Fox devoted his life to agriculture and instilled a passion and love of education to his family.

Lucy Ellen Haywood Pastoral and Missionary Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 2020 in memory of Lucy Ellen Haywood. Lucy's faith was of the highest priority in her life and her guiding light. She spent many decades teaching and modeling her Christian faith. As such, via her last will and testament, she included provision to lend financial support to those men and women who choose to pursue the field of ministry.
REQUIREMENTS:  One letter of recommendation. Must intend to pursue religious studies. Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited theological seminary or similar institution. Applicants must be Union County residents.
In 2025, one $2,000 scholarship was awarded.

The Donald Jolliff Family Scholarship

This scholarship was created in loving memory of James Donald “Don” Jolliff. Don graduated from Leesburg-Magnetic High School in 1949. Following high school Don was stationed overseas with the United States army during the Korean War conflict He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend to many. He devoted his life to the two things he loved most: his family and farming.
REQUIREMENTS:  One essay. One letter of recommendation.

William Logan Krebehenne Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship honors the life and memory of William Logan Krebehenne (1987-2016). Logan was an athlete and avid outdoorsman. His devotion to his family and friends left a lasting impression on many in his short life. REQUIREMENTS:  One essay. Personal statement. Must intend to pursue education in agriculture-related field or health care.

Dan B. Kyle Scholarship

This scholarship was established in April, 1994 in Dan’s memory by his loving family. Dan was the president of the Richwood Banking Company and was a leader in the Richwood business community. The scholarship is awarded to qualified seniors at North Union High School who are going into the field of Finance or Education.
REQUIREMENTS:  One essay explaining financial need. Must plan to attend four-year college or university. Must provide senior picture.
In 2025, five $1,000 scholarships were awarded.

Kevin McCoy Scholarship

This scholarship honors the legacy of Kevin McCoy, a remarkable individual who triumphed over adversity and lived a life defined by perseverance, integrity, and passion for the schools and and the athletic programs of Fairbanks, Marysville, and North Union high schools.
REQUIREMENTS:  High school transcript. Personal statement. Two letters of recommendation. You must be a graduating senior at Fairbanks, Marysville or Marysville Early College, or North Union High School, and accepted at a two- or four-year trade/technical school, college, or university.

Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2014 by the medical staff of Memorial to support post-secondary education in a medical-related or science discipline for graduating seniors who reside in Union County.
REQUIREMENTS:  Personal statement. Two letters of recommendation. Letter of acceptance from college. Must be a resident of Union County. Must intend to pursue post-secondary education in medical or health/science related field. Preference given to Hospital staff-related candidates or Hospital volunteers. MUST BE A RESIDENT OF UNION COUNTY.
In 2025, six $1,000 scholarships (renewable for up to 3 additional years) were awarded.
Renewable for 3 additional years if enrollment and grade requirements are met.

Conner Ann Miller Memorial Scholarship

Northwest Neighborhood Alliance Scholarship

This scholarship was created in 2022 by David and Jean Thornton and David’s sister Twyla (Jim) Elliott. The fund was started with monies left over from the Northwest Neighborhood Alliance that fought the commercial egg farms coming to Union County in the early 2000s. It is awarded to a graduating North Union student with an interest in conservation and environmental science, and demonstrated community involvement.
REQUIREMENTS:  One essay. Two letters of recommendation. Minimum 3.2 GPA.
In 2025, two $2,000 scholarships were awarded.

Rita Rubeck Parker Scholarship

Rita Rubeck Parker established this scholarship in memory of her father, Bernard “Barney” Rubeck. One of 9 children growing up during the Depression, Barney had to leave school after the 8th grade to work and help his family. The Marilyn Shearer Memorial Scholarship

In remembrance of Stephanie Sheridan, Clarus Partners would like to award someone with similar qualities as Stephanie with this scholarship.
